DOMINION UNIVERSITY DISTINCTIVESNESS
DOMINION UNIVERISTY (DU) derives its name from the intention of the University to produce graduates and generational leaders who will be in absolute control of life’s challenges and enhance the development of Nigeria and the world at large across different facets and platforms including but not limited to economic sector, political sector, educational sector, science and research and socio-economic management.
The University is located at City of Faith, KM 24, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
The University has three main colors; (white, gold and royal blue) as explained below:
White: represents purity, kindness and love: it stands for wholeness and completion
Gold: symbolizes wealth used wisely, and also signify health and success
Blue: is a color of inspiration, sincerity and spirituality. Royal blue adds royalty to these virtues.
Having a right weather, a restful and peaceful place with tall vegetation and appropriate rainfall is synonymous with having good study skills.
The above sets the stage for other external factors that affects staff and students campus quality of life, adequate attention to students and staff-student interaction.
The Logo of the University consists of a shield containing a lion wearing a crown and resting on a scroll. All these are supported by a banner on which the motto of the University is inscribed. The lion represents strength and is regarded as the king of all animals. The University will be strong and much desired by prospective students. The scroll represents a certificate which is the reward of academic excellence for all students.
LINE OF COMMUNICATION
One of the ways to secure the confidence of our student’s is by allowing them access their teachers as well as the University Administration. Every student of the University has the phone number of the Vice-Chancellor, and they have direct access to him and all other university staffs as well.
As leaders of tomorrow, all students are given due recognition and prominence. This does not however affect their requirement to respect or comply with the University’s code of conduct, respect for staff or the rule of law.
• For academic matters a student may communicate directly with his/her Head of Department.
• For non-academic matters the approved line of communication is through relevant scheduled officers.
PERSONAL AND GROUP DEVOTIONS
The University is a Faith-based Institution, as such; it is the view of the Founder, Chancellor and Management that all activities in the University should be built on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. To this effect, we believe that having a personal relationship with God is vital part in life.
Our students take advantage of the serene and beautiful surroundings of the campus to have a daily ‘quiet time’ with God for about thirty minutes (5.30am-6am) daily. This will be followed by group devotion (6.00am -6.30am) in all Halls of residence with students members as Devotional Leaders. Students also meet together daily for evening devotion (10.00pm- 10.30pm). Every student must participate in this devotion.
At DU, our academic calendar is such designed for adequate teaching and learning within appropriate and expected timing, which paves the way for graduating of students within record time.
The Senate or the University monitors students’ performance to ensure they maximize the purpose of their presence at DU. Students continuous assessment (C.As) are noted and ensured regularly.
All levels of degree examinations are externally moderated.
All students regulations, guiding students conduct on campus, is contained in a booklet provided for each student. The rules are student-friendly but enforced without fear or favour.
