Minneapolis City Council agreed to pay $27 Million to George Floyd’s Family.

Minneapolis City council has agreed to pay a whooping $27 Million to the family of George Floyd who died when a police officer named Chauvin put his Knee on his neck for almost 7 minutes in other to settle the civil lawsuit over his killing in police custody.

This settlement was approved by the City Council during a closed seesion today (March 12).

Last year July, George Floyd’s family filed a federal lawsuit against Minneapolis and the other four police officers who were involved in the arrest and death in May Last year which brought up the Black Lives Matter movement across the globe.



This comes weeks before the trial of former officer Derek Chauvin who was charged with murdering George Floyd
